Maurice Hull

Information: Maurice S. S. Hull, a native North Carolinian, was born in Greensboro, educated at Wofford College (BA 1975) and has resided in High Point since his graduation from Wake Forest University Law School in 1979. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Capstone-Showplace, LLC, MarketPlace Management, Inc., and Capstone Property Group, Inc. Capstone-Showplace is an owner and operator of three major furniture showroom properties in downtown High Point, comprising over one million square feet of space, making it the third largest showroom owner in the state. MarketPlace Management, Inc. owns and manages retail shopping centers, office building and apartment complexes throughout North Carolina. Capstone Property Group, Inc. develops single tenant properties, such as drugstores, restaurants, big box stores, and retail strip centers in the southeast. Mr. Hull has retired from the active practice of law with the law firm of Keziah, Gates and Samet, LLP, where he was a partner for twenty-five years concentrating his practice in commercial real estate and finance. He is an AV rated attorney with Martindale Hubnell. In November 2007, Mr. Hull was recognized by The Business Journal Serving the Greater Triad Area as “One of the Triad’s Most Influential Men & Women.” An active farmer, he owns and operates Waukegan Farms, LLC, an 850-acre farm in Caswell County, North Carolina, growing loblolly pine tree plantations, small grain crops, and tobacco. Waukegan Farms is extensively managed for wildlife habitat and is part of the sustainable forest initiative. Appointed to the North Carolina Banking Commission by Governor Easley in 2007, Mr. Hull is a current or past board member of High Point Partners (2007-2008 Chairman), High Point Economic Development Corporation , South Trust Bank, High Point Country Club (past Chairman), High Point Rotary Club, Old North State Council Boy Scouts of America (current Chairman, where he was awarded the “Silver Beaver” for distinguished service for youth in 1992), Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, High Point and North Carolina State Ducks Unlimited (past Chairman), North Carolina Wildlife Habitat Foundation, Westchester Academy, and the Holt McPherson Center (past Chairman). An avid sportsman, Mr. Hull holds several big game hunting records. He owns Silver Hare Racing, Ltd. He competes in the Grand American Rolex Series in the GT class, driving a Porsche 997 GT-3 car, and in the Historic Sportscar Racing series, driving a Nextel Cup Stock Car.
